The European Parliament approved a loan of 1 billion euros for Ukraine

The European Parliament has approved a €1 billion loan to Ukraine, Bloomberg reports.

This is the first part of the planned macro-financial assistance to Kyiv in the amount of 9 billion euros. The loan is intended to help Ukraine in a situation of “an acute shortage of funds, exacerbated by the ongoing hostilities in the country.”

“The loan is the first part of the planned macro-financial assistance to Kyiv in the amount of 9 billion euros,” the agency said.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special operation in response to a request for help from the leaders of the Donbas republics.

He stressed that Moscow’s plans do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories, but the goal is the demilitarization and denationalization of the country. The West reacted to Russia’s decision by imposing large-scale sanctions. In addition, Western countries have increased the supply of arms and military equipment to Kyiv by billions of dollars.
