Cavusoglu: Turkey supports the peace plan proposed by Zelensky

Turkey supports the peace plan proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said during a visit to the Republic of South Africa, Turkish private television CNN-Turk reported, citing BTA.

Cavusoglu noted that Turkey has been making intensive efforts to ensure peace since the beginning of the war.

“Our goal, of course, is lasting peace and a mutually acceptable solution. We believe that this war will be stopped at the negotiating table, and the sooner we can do it, the better,” the minister added.

He noted that Russia now expresses readiness for negotiations, and the Ukrainian president offers a ten-point peace plan.

“We, Turkey, support this peace plan and continue to work on it,” Cavusoglu said.

According to him, Turkey is a country that is really making great efforts to find a way out of the military conflict in Ukraine. “And despite the war, I believe that we are seeing real results of diplomacy. Now there are negotiations in many other areas, such as the exchange of prisoners of war, negotiations on Zaporizhzhia. Some of these negotiations are taking place in Istanbul. I would like to say the following: yes, ” The war is on, but we are in the process of interaction, in the process of interaction with both sides. We are trying to end this war as soon as possible,” Çavuşoğlu said.
